The Most Haunted Castle in England
The construction of the now haunted Chillingham Castle started in the 12th century and it boasts a rich royal and medieval history. In 1980, it became the home of Sir Edward Humphry Tyrrell Wakefield. Prior to that is belonged to the Grey and Bennett families since the 15th century.
One of the castle’s more recent claims-to-fame is the high levels of paranormal activity and unexplained phenomena that occurs there.
Ghosts of Chillingham Castle
Among the ghosts of Chillingham Castle is the white pantry ghost, a white apparition that appears in the inner pantry of the castle. This ghost is allegedly longing for water when reported which has led many to theorize they were poisoned.
Another are the ghosts in the courtyard. Shadows come to life at night and visitors have reported seeing many unexplained sightings of apparitions and spirits.
In the Chapel next to the Great Hall, the voices of two men have been heard on numerous occasions. Though it’s clear two men are talking, there is no way to trace the voices, because each time someone attempt to, the voices stop.
