King Montezuma’s haunted Aztec treasure has sparked the interest of generations and even though it may have been found, no one is able to retrieve it.
But when the Spaniards went to collect their room full of treasure, it was nowhere to be seen. It’s said that the Aztec took the treasure and moved it to a secret location, many people that secret location was Southern Utah.
One family claims to have discovered the likely location for the treasure estimated to be worth a whopping $4 billion. There’s just one problem, it’s haunted.
The haunted Aztec treasure is said to be hidden in a cavern which was accessed by the Aztec through a lake, and once the treasure was safe they flooded it, a technique known as a water trap.
Legend has it that the Aztec warriors killed each other on the spot after securing the cache and their spirits would protect the haunted aztec treasure until the rightful heir came to collect it, whoever that is.
Despite valiant efforts to retrieve the conceal treasure, each time has been met with failure, but it get stranger. When the owner of the property, Lonn Child, hired a professional dive team from California to try and access the tunnel to the underwater cavern, but when they entered the lake, their gear failed and divers were reported screaming under the water, experiencing the feeling of being choked and claiming to see “ghosts” whilst trying to escape to the surface.
On another occasion, they tried to drill into the top of the cavern and noticed gold flakes on the drill piece when they removed it, but one of the men spotted what looked like an Aztec warrior in the distance, looking over them from an adjacent mountain, but he quickly disappeared.
Later they hired a drill machine, but when the driller left the first night, he mysterious died of a heart attack and his wife met the same fate 3 weeks later.
Right now, the haunted aztec treasure still sits in the cavern on the Child property, apparently, as does the drill machine. No one has been brave enough to go back there and retrieve it, but maybe one day someone will get to the bottom of the haunted Aztec treasure and into the cavern.
