Unlike many lists that have been built with a simple Google or Youtube search to compile a list of the most haunted places, we actually know our paranormal locations and there’s not much we haven’t heard of. Out of hundreds of candidates, we’ve complied our list from the top haunted places on the planet.
Though some places may have many more ghosts that others, we’ve taken into account the power of the entities, the location’s history, and the effects the spirits have on visitors.
#10 – Beechworth Lunatic Asylum – Australia
Serving as a mental institute for many years and most patients never making it out alive, Beechworth doctors performed electric shock therapy on its patients. This is considered the most haunted place in the whole of Australia with ghost tours and overnight stays offered.
#9 – Eastern State Penitentiary – Pennsylvania, USA
The Eastern State Penitentiary housed notorious criminals like Al Capone, but the torture methods, mental illness caused from such, and the suicides there earned it a spot at the top of the most haunted places in the world.

One of the most underrated locations for paranormal activity is Hoia Baciu Forest in Romania. Though it’s better known for alien activity and unexplained phenomena, the paranormal and supernatural presence there can’t be ignored. It’s one of the strangest locations on the planet.

Built in West Virginia as a psychiatric hospital, the Trans-Allegheny lunatic asylum has became the back bone of paranormal research in the United States with hauntings and warning from voices and unseen forces.

Built on the intersection of two Ley lines and an ancient Pagan burial grown, this Inn in Gloucestershire, UK has become one of the world’s most haunted locations with children’s skeletons being found, the building haunted by witches and demons, and the owner finding skeletal remains hidden on the property.
#5 – Waverly Hills Sanatorium – Kentucky, USA
Louisville, Kentucky‘s paranormal hotspot has served as a retirement home and a Tuberculosis hospital, among other things and was once known as the most haunted place on earth.

Greyfriars Kirkyard is home to the tomb of Bloody MacKenzie who slaughter hundreds of people in his day. MacKenzie’s spirit is still present around his mausoleum where he’s terrified visit, caused burns and scratches to skin and even broken people’s fingers.

Aokigahara forest made our number one spot as its dark entities have influenced hundreds of people to take their own lives by drawing them in with dark energy and influencing them to commit suicide.
There are so many choices when developing the best top 10 list of haunted locations, that forces some places to be left out, so we though it would be necessary to share a couple more honorable mentions.
