SpaceX made history on May 30, 2020 when they teamed up with NASA and successfully launched astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley into space.
The duo successfully blasted off in the SpaceX Dragon capsule on which you can watch here. The launch and successful docking with the ISS earned worldwide media attention, but a few other interesting things happened during and after the launch.
There was an unidentified aerial craft spotted 12:23 into flight which was captured on Dragon’s live stream while ascending towards the space station which you can see here. But something else came from the launch as well, the imagination of Charlie Automotive on Instagram.
When SpaceX launches the moon missions, maybe they’ll take one of the new Tesla Cybertrucks up there, but Charlie’s rendition transforms the futurist truck into a full blown 6-wheeler moon rover.
Though the 2021 truck already looks like something from a sci-fi movie, additional wheels with deep tread tires and other lunar equipment on board may just give Elon a little inspiration to make it come to life, unless he’s already thought of the idea, which is entirely possible.
Taking nothing away from Charlie’s artistry, the SpaceX NASA moon rover concept art looks amazing and has certainly triggered many people’s imagination of the idea coming to fruition. Though SpaceX and Musk haven’t announced anything, the idea of converting a cybertruck into a lunar rover may not be out of the question.
