Treasure Of The Knights Templar
The Knights Templar were a Christian military order, The Order of the Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, formed in 1119 AD to protect Christian pilgrims on their crusades to the Middle East.
Their treasure was accumulated from years of donations from patrons which ultimately made them the most fierce and powerful military order in Europe. They were famous in Medieval times (The Middle Ages), but the Order was broken up and heads of state were instructed to arrest all Templars and seize their possessions.
Many Knights were arrested and had their treasure and other possessions seized, but many also escaped in an attempt to hide their treasures. At least several thousand men, as well as a fleet of ships, vanished during the disbandment in the year 1307. The quick end of the once powerful organization led to many stories and legends about them, which developed over the following centuries.
The location of the treasures were said to be in Scotland, among other unknown locations, but the lost treasure of the Knight Templar has never been found.
Included in the Templar hoard is said to be untold riches which include gold and silver ingots, coinage, jewels, jewelry, gold and silver plate, Middle Eastern trophies and artifacts, Royal crown jewels and other valuable pieces.
Although it is difficult to estimate the exact value of the lost treasure, it is said to be worth billions of dollars, more than Montezuma’s Aztec treasure. And according to legend, it is still out there somewhere.
Do you think the lost treasure of the Knights Templare Order is still out there? Do you think it has been found over the year and not publicized? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
